Introduction

Shurnell & Friends is a network of people committed to ‘making a difference in other people’s lives’. Over the years in my professional and personal interactions, I befriended many people who share a deep desire to ‘give back’. Shurnell & Friends came about through conversations with colleagues, clients, friends and relatives who were either involved in different projects as individuals, but wanted a bit more structure and focus to their giving, or who wanted to get involved but were not sure how.

About the Network
The network comprises of men and women from various professions and interests. We make a difference by giving what we can, when we can, how we can. This includes money, time, goods, professional expertise, etc. Membership and participation is voluntary and the projects we support are often those which are discovered or proposed through our contacts. We do not market or advertise
ourselves and what we do, but quietly go about the business of enhancing and enriching people’s lives.

So far we have contributed to a few causes which include:

• Paying for an emergency heart operation for a 4-year old boy
• Assisting a 15-year old girl with her school fees when both parents were killed in an auto crash
• Training and mentoring a young entrepreneur with his business planning and budgeting
• Providing life coaching to 3 promising young students at an underprivileged high school
